“Predators” Trailer Is a Cinematical Tyrannosaurus
by MICHAEL TUNISON / movies / sci-fi / Comments
The first official trailer for the Predator reboot has arrived, and it actually looks like it’s shaping up to be some quality mindless entertainment. And any way filmmakers find a way to shoehorn Danny Trejo into a trashy summer action movie is fine by me. Of course, having Robert Rodriguez helming the project made that choice all the more logical.
In tangentially related news, German scientists have developed an invisibility cloak that means in the infrared spectrum in three dimensions, which could help protect you from a Predator, except, as the trailer plainly tells us, they LEARN and ADAPT. Obviously the Austrians will always be better equipped to dispatch Predators than the Germans.
Teenage Mutant Killer Turtles
by MICHAEL TUNISON / cartoons / nostalgia / Comments
Even though this video smacks of the “point out how shocking a ’80s pop culture mainstay would be if one aspect of it were more realistic” page from the “Family Guy” playbook of comedy, it was effectively done. So kudos to you College Humor, for showing us how thrillingly gory and graphic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would have been had the turtles actually ever used their signature weapons directly on their enemies instead of just manipulating nearby objects with them in order to inflict minor pain and embarrassment. Lucky for us they don’t want to imagine what if one of them acted on their love for April O’Neil.

Cyclists Are People Too?
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said that the needs of cyclists and pedestrians will be considered tantamount to those of motorists in future federal transportation planning. Which is nice in some ways, but you can’t pretend that most of the transportation structure that is in place in the country isn’t designed specifically to accommodate drivers. Whether that’s right or wrong is debatable, but it’s not going to be reversed overnight. In other words, don’t expect walkable communities everywhere within the next year.
THREADWere Bullies Wiped Out By Disease?
There’s no other way to explain how this many dorks could convene in a public space and engage in activities that satiate their dorky cravings. It could be that a sacrificial dork offered to create a diversion that allowed this mass light saber battle to transpire undisturbed. They should some sort of statue in honor of this selfless nerdlinger.
THREADUniversal Music Makes Move That Might Have Helped Them a Decade Ago
Universal Music Group is slashing CD retail prices for its releases to $10 or lower beginning in the second quarter of this fiscal year. Of course, the company requires other major labels to agree to join them in the move. The ability to travel back in time 15 years might help too.
